2019 Hall of Fame Nominees Announced

The Wyomissing Football Association (WFA) has announced the 2019 Hall of Fame Nominees.

Dan McCallum (1971-74) – Four-year, two-way starter. First-team All-County Running Back. Played Fullback at Bloomsburg.

Pat Tierney (1997-2000) – Four-year starter at Linebacker; three-year starter at Running Back. All-Berks and two-time All-IC Linebacker. Captain.

Cary Bickel (1957-59) – Tri-captain of first unbeaten team in school history. Single-wing blocking back for an offense that set county scoring record.

Jon Weiss (1988-90) – All-County/All-League Offensive Guard as a senior. All-IC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Two-way starter at OG and LB his junior and senior years.

Mike Mitchell Jr (1988-90) – Led Spartans to a 24-2 record over two years at Quarterback, including a District Championship in 1990. Passed for over 2200 yards and 19 TDs. Assistant coach for 15 years.

Andrew Althouse (2001-03) – Two-way starter his senior/junior years at Offensive and Defensive Tackle. All-League OT his senior year. All-Conference starter at OT his junior/senior years at Carnegie Mellon University. 

Mickey Morrissey (1976-80) – Four-year starting offensive/defensive lineman. Two-time All-Berks County. Also played at Ithaca College. Twenty-two years coaching high school and college football, including four years at Wyomissing.

Scott Jones (1988-Present) – President of the Wyomissing Area Youth Football Association from 1991 to the present. WAYFA has produced 12 Championship teams and provided significant financial support to Wyomissing football.

Ron Cardinal (1961-64) – Running back, West Reading High School, 1961-64. Two-time All-County RB. Member, IC Hall of Fame. Running back, Kutztown State College, 1964-68. Thirty-two years coaching high school and college football.

Anthony Chirico (1951-53) – Played Center and Linebacker at West Reading High School. Also played Center and Linebacker for Juniata College. Nominated for “Little All-American Lineman” award.

WFA Members: you have been emailed a ballot link to vote.  Non-members: click Join the WFA to become a WFA member and receive a 2019 WFA Hall of Fame ballot.  Member votes are weighted by membership level.

Voting closes on Saturday, August 10th.
